Jean Charles Counet

Jean Charles Counet (1979) is a cinematographer and photographer based in Oosterbeek, the Netherlands. For over twenty years he has worked as Director of Photography for documentary and fiction under his company TAM Films; his work has been screened at international festivals, including IDFA. He is a member of the NSC.

Ten years ago he began photographing for himself. More recently, generative AI entered the work. Not as a departure, but as the continuation of a question he has carried since film school: where authenticity lives when reality is constructed. (t)HERE, his first solo exhibition, opened in June 2026 as part of Kunstroute Renkum. He was trained at Sint-Lukas Brussels and Sint Joost. His cinematographic work has been screened at international festivals, including IDFA.

"Show things that, without you, might never have been seen."
Abbas Kiarostami. The line stayed with Counet from his 2005 graduation thesis Reconstructed Authenticity, on constructing reality to reveal it. Twenty years later, it became his method.
